About the event

MfE’s central enforcement role relates to ensuring the waste disposal levy is paid, ensuring territorial authorities spend their share of the levy in accordance with the act, and a range of other enforcement activities, including plastic bans.

The expansion of the waste levy is seeing hundreds of waste facilities become subject to new information reporting obligations, including transfer stations. In addition, some waste facilities will be subject to new or increased obligations to pay the levy.

MfE has recently boosted its compliance approach in this area. This presentation takes the opportunity to highlight the obligations of waste facilities and how they interact with the planning framework. The scope of the presentation will only briefly touch on the future changes to waste legislation, and is primarily targeted at explaining existing obligations and their impacts.

Key Points:

provide planners and lawyers with an understanding of the regime

how it might affect their regulated communities and clients

provide an opportunity to ask questions about the Act
